Detoxing is a way of eliminating the body and bloodstream of harmful toxins. Some people choose to do detox diets, use teas, laxatives, vitamins or minerals, but there are simple things that can be done to eliminate toxins from the body.

1. Drinking plenty of water

Adequate water intake is important because water helps to remove toxins from the body through sweat, urination, and even breathing. Water transports nutrients to the cells and helps with digestion. Doing a water flush is a good way to flush the colon for cleansing. To do this you drink six to eight cups of warm water and eat lots of fruits and vegetables with high water content.

Drinking too much alcohol can damage and scar the liver. Once the liver is damaged it cannot properly remove waste and toxins from the body. It’s best to completely eliminate alcohol or to have no more than one drink a day for women, and two drinks a day for men.

3. Sleep

Getting enough sleep each night is crucial to your health, especially when it comes to detoxing your body. While we sleep our brains are being recharged and are removing toxins from our bodies. When we don’t get adequate sleep toxins quickly build up in our bodies. Beta-amyloid is a toxic protein that can cause Alzheimer’s disease, this toxic build-up is very dangerous. That is why getting proper rest is important because it gives the brain time to replenish itself and to eliminate toxins. It’s best to get seven to nine hours of sleep per day.

4. Exercise

There are many health benefits when it comes to exercising. Regular exercise reduces the risk of cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and inflammation. Inflammation helps the body heal wounds, but too much of it will have an opposite effect, and actually cause disease. Exercise helps the body to detox and fight diseases.

Our intestinal cells have a system of detoxing set in place and it promotes good gut health and protects the body from toxins. Prebiotics is fiber that feeds the probiotics in our guts. Sometimes our good bacteria can become unbalanced because of poor diets, or antibiotics.

This can increase inflammation and disease. Eating foods that contain prebiotics will help to keep the gut healthy and can help the body’s detoxification system. Foods rich in prebiotics are bananas, oats, garlic, tomatoes, and asparagus.
